SOCCER NO. 14 MAROONS WHIP WESLEY 5-0

Roanoke College (12-1) extended its school-record men's soccer winning streak to 12 games with a 5-0 victory over visiting Wesley.

Goalkeepers Rick Keeley and Mike Birely combined on the team's ninth shutout of the season, which tied a school record. Dustin Fonder had a goal and an assist for Roanoke (14-2), extending his scoring streak to 12 games; he has 43 points this season.

Larry Feniger scored less than 1 1/2 minutes into the game to set the tone for UNC Greensboro's 2-1 victory over Virginia Tech. UNCG (7-3-1) also got a goal from Scott Thomas in the second half. Virginia Tech (7-4) got its goal from Brian MacFarlane.

In Baltimore, host Maryland Baltimore-County was led by Bryan Bugarin's goal and two assists as the Retrievers whipped Radford 6-2 in a Big South Conference game. The Retrievers (8-2, 4-2) outshot Radford 20-6. The Highlanders are 1-10-1 and 0-4).

In Lexington, Matt Goodwin scored early in the first overtime to give host Washington and Lee a 3-2 win over Dickinson (9-4) in a non-conference game. The Generals (4-7) trailed 2-1 in regulation, but Shag Drewry scored with 21 minutes remaining to force overtime.

Allison Warner had a goal and an assist as host Washington and Lee rolled past Guilford 5-0 in a women's Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer game. The Generals (7-3, 5-0) outshot Guilford 31-6. The Quakers are 4-7 and 2-4.

In Rocky Mount, N.C., Amy Coley and Chris Webb scored as North Carolina Wesleyan beat Roanoke 2-0 in a women's non-conference game.
