BLUE DEMONS WIN BIG IN CROSS COUNTRY

Host Christiansburg, led by Kevin Nolan and Bethany Eigel's first-place finishes, won the boys' and girls' team titles in the Blue Demon Invitational cross country meet.

Nolan's course-record time of 16 minutes, 34 seconds on the 3.1 mile course helped the Blue Demons beat Blacksburg by 24 points. Jason Alexander of George Wythe finished second in 16:38. The Blue Demons placed five runners in the top 10.

Eigel's first-place time of 20:37 led Christiansburg's girl's team to a 30-point win over Radford. The Blue Demons' Meredith Ritter was second in 21:07.
