MARSHALL WHIPS VMI

Todd Donnan threw for 258 yards and one touchdown as Marshall trounced VMI 51-0 on Saturday, the Thundering Herd's 11th consecutive football victory over the Keydets.

Marshall (4-1 overall, 2-1 Southern Conference) leads the series 11-5 and has won every meeting since 1982. It was the second consecutive shutout of the series at Huntington; the Thundering Herd won 61-0 in 1991.

Marshall scored 24 points in the first quarter. The Herd scored on its first three possessions and four of its first five.

Marshall quarterback Donahue Stephenson completed 23 of 33 passes.
