BROWN, Ruth English, 76, of Moneta, passed away Saturday, October 9, 1993
at her residence. She was born September 19, 1917 in Franklin County. She was
preceded in death by her husband, James Ashby Brown, her twin brother, Raymond
L. English, a brother, Johnny English, and three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Holdren,
Mrs. Caudie West and Mrs. Maude Howell. She was the devoted mother of James
Earl "Bud" Brown, of the residence. Also surviving are four daughters and
sons-in-law, Hazel B. and Thomas Payne, Moneta, Nancy B. Howell, Evington,
Mary Jane and Butch Millner, Goode, Clara B. and Booker Goggin, Bedford; one
brother, William (Bill) English, Vinton; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lucas,
Roanoke, Mrs. Vera Hutchinson of Ohio; ten grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday,
October 12, 1993 from the Upkike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Walter
Mason and Rev. Mark Baldwin. Interment will follow in the Emmaus United
Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, from 2 to 4
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home.
