HOKIES IN THE HUNT FOR GOLF TITLE

Virginia Tech is in third place, two shots behind host Kansas, after two rounds at the Jayhawk Invitational golf tournament in Lawrence, Kan.

Tech shot rounds of 304-286 Monday at the par-72 Alvamar Country Club course under cool, breezy conditions and is four shots behind leader Oral Roberts.

Darren Griff of Oral Roberts leads the individual competition at 2-under 142. Tech freshman Curtis Deal is in a three-way tie for second after rounds of 73-72 for 145.

Hokies Brian Sharp and Sean Farrell shot identical rounds of 77-70, David Havens carded 77-74 and Matt Martin shot 79-77.

The final round is scheduled for today.
