COUGARS KNOCK OFF CRAIG CO.

Bessie Laws hit three free throws to spark Covington in a second quarter surge that gave the Cougars a 38-29 Pioneer District girls' basketball victory over Craig County.

Laws' free-throw shooting helped Covington (4-7 overall, 4-1 in the district) open an 11-point lead at the half. Laws led all scorers with 12 points. Craig County (2-7, 1-4) was paced by Rebecca Peters with eight points.
