TENNIS PLAYERS WIN SPORTMANSHIP AWARDS

Shannon Vittur, a senior at Cave Spring High, and Greg McCray, a freshman at Patrick Henry High, were the male and female Sportsmanship Award winners at the Lewisburg (West Virginia) Junior Open tennis tournament.

In the tournament, sponsored by the U.S. Tennis Association, both players also reached the finals in the competition.

McCray is a USTA tournament player and is ranked in both the state and mid atlantic regions. Vittur is on her high school tennis team and competes on the USTA circuit.

Ellie Simpson, also from Roanoke, won the girls' 12 and under singles competition, in addition to being half of the winning girls' 12 and under doubles team.
