HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTES TO HEART-HEALTH PROGRAM

Montgomery Regional Hospital has pledged more than $8,700 to the American Heart Association's Montgomery unit to offer heart-health programs in schools.

"Cardiovascular health is a vital part of comprehensive school health education," said a hospital spokesman.

The hospital pointed out that cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and stroke, is the country's No. 1 killer and claims almost a million lives a year.
