NAMES IN BUSINESS

SUSAN D. HALE has been named a personal financial planner with the Roanoke divisional office of IDS Financial Services, Inc., an American Express company that offers financial planning to nearly 2 million clients nationwide. She had previously worked with IDS for six years. Hale's office is located in Christiansburg.

Before working with IDS, Hale was employed by the Virginia Tech Athletic department as Director of Corporate Sales. She holds a bachelors degree from Virginia Tech.

\ NORMAN OLMSTEAD recently completed the "Pedorthic Management of the Foot" course in September. The course consisted of 50 hours of intensive study and workshop techniques at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

The National Taxidermist Association awarded WILLIAM BREEN of Newport certification at the national level in Mammal and Reptile taxidermy. Only 211 taxidermists nationwide have been admitted into the program.

\ LTC BILL W. FORRESTER, commander of Radford Army Ammunition Plant, has been selected to attend the United States War College. He will report to Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania in August, 1994 to begin the one-year course which will prepare him for senior command and staff positions with the Army and Department of Defense. Forrester was one of 318 officers to be selected from a field of over 4,300 applicants.

The following Radford Community Hospital associates have been recognized in their respective areas for special achievements: FLORENCE BISHOP, director of medical records has been named a "Distinguished Member" of the Virginia Health Information Management Association; MIKE HOLDREN, administrative assistant, has been accepted as a nominee in the American College of Healthcare Executives and PETE FARMER from Human Resources, has been named director of employee relations.

Century 21 Maddy Realty real estate agents JUDY SMITH and SHIRLEE LOAN were recently honored at the second quarter awards rally held in Wytheville. Smith received the Sales Achievement Silver Award for earning $15,000 in gross closed commissions and Loan received the Sales Achievement Award for earning $8,500 in gross closed commissions or nine closed sides.

\ W.B. BUCHANAN of Pearisburg and DOAK LUCAS of Newport were elected to the local Board of Directors of the Giles Farm Co-op Inc. PAUL HENDERSON of Pearisburg was selected as chairman and MARTY FARRIER of Newport was selected as vice-chairman. MARY BUCHANAN and BETTY HENDERSON, both of Pearisburg were elected to the Southern States Farm Home Advisory Committee. MARY HENDERSON was chosen as chairman and Betty Henderson will serve as secretary.

\ LUDEMAN ENG JR. of Blacksburg will join CCS Data Station's service and support team as a computer technician. Eng has operated a private computer bulletin board system, and has worked as trouble shooter and computer programmer.

\ MARIANNA PRICE has been promoted to Activities Coordinator for Warm Hearth Village. She will plan and coordinate activities for residents as well as oversee the volunteer program. BARRY HUNTER of Christiansburg has been selected as employee of the quarter at Warm Hearth Village. He has worked for over two years at the kitchen at Showalter Center, organizing food service stock and keeping the dietary department clean.
