2 STILL HOSPITALIZED AFTER WORK ACCIDENT

Two men injured at a Yokohama Tire Corp. construction site remained hospitalized Wednesday.

A Roanoke Memorial Hospital nursing supervisor said the condition of Herbert N. Wilson, who underwent surgery Tuesday night, was upgraded from critical to very serious on Wednesday. Wilson is believed to reside in the Lynchburg area.

Charles E. Mays, 33, of Madison Heights near Lynchburg, remained in stable condition at Lewis-Gale Hospital. His ankle was crushed in the Tuesday afternoon accident.

Salem police say the men, employees of Commercial Steel Erection Co. in Madison Heights, fell about 30 feet when a wind gust apparently caused a support column to break loose as they were connecting steel beams for a new addition.
