OBIT DEAN, LOIS SIMS

DEAN, Lois Sims, 66, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 13, 1993, after a short illness with cancer. She was an employee of Sears Roebuck & Company for 18 years. Ms. Dean started working at Mountain Trust Bank in 1977 and was presently working at NationsBank. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Marshall Sims and Marie (Chicken) Whitlow Sims. Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Faye Dean, Moneta; one sister, Doris Poff Edgecumbe, Salem; her brother, William Sims Jr., Colorado; a niece, Betty Gilley and husband, Don; one nephew, Robert L. Poff and wife, Linda, all of Salem; also surviving are a host of good friends and other relatives. Graveside services will be at the Sherwood Memorial Park 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James Millsaps officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Good Samaritian Hospice, 4235 Colonial Ave., Roanoke, VA 24018 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, VA 24003-0554. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
