OBIT FINNEY, ELIZABETH SAUNDERS

FINNEY, Elizabeth Saunders, 84, of Roanoke, formerly of Norfolk, Va., passed away Wednesday, October 13, 1993, after a lengthy illness. She was an active member of the American Business Women's Auxiliary, Daughters of the Nile, Westminster Chapter No. 99, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of Amoranth, Inc., and was very active with the youth of Park Place Baptist Church. She retired in 1971 as a civilian employee of the Naval Supply Center, all in Norfolk. In Roanoke, she was a member of the Grandin Court Baptist Church and Ladies Circle. She was the widow of Fred W. Finney. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick W. and Mary Elizabeth Finney, Vinton; two granddaughters, Deborah Hungerford, Richmond, Allison Finney, Vinton; two great-granddaughters, Paige and Lauren Hungerford; a very special niece, Carolyn Robertson, Roanoke; one sister, Jessie Saul, Rocky Mount; one sister-in-law, Rosa Saunders, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Margaret Ray and C. P. Doran, both of Norfolk. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, October 15, 1993, in Franklin Memorial Park, with Rev. Robert M. Hamner officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
