BUFFALO FESTIVAL

A Buffalo Auction and Festival will be held in Paint Bank on Oct. 23 to celebrate the buffalo of America's history and their recent increase in numbers through careful breeding and preservation. The festival begins at 9 a.m.

With the auction, which will be at 1 p.m., will be American Indians from the Plains, Monacan and Lakota tribes, an Old Time Band competition, mountain men cooking over open fires and demonstrating their skills, and grilled buffalo burgers, of course.

The festival takes place on Hollow Hill Farm, 38 miles northwest of Roanoke. For more festival information, call the farm manager at 897-5786.
