WYTHE RESIDENT KILLS MAN DURING BREAK-IN

A man who authorities said forced his way into a home in the Grahams Forge area of Wythe County was killed Thursday night when the occupant fired a shotgun at him.

Joey Catron, 33, originally from Gate City in Scott County, died from the single shotgun blast to the heart.

Sheriff Wayne Pike said the name of the man who fired at Catron is not being disclosed at this time, while authorities decide whether to file any charges against him in the shooting death.

Pike said Catron apparently had a dispute earlier in the day with the man who lived at the home. He said Catron went to the home shortly before midnight Thursday armed with part of a pool cue.
