Penn, a senior fullback and linebacker, finished with 102 yards rushing on 19 carries for the Warriors (6-0 overall, 5-0 district).
Sophomore Jermaine Simmons scored one touchdown on offense and one on defense. Playing at tailback, he had 99 yards on 12 carries including a 57-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that put Magna Vista up 21-13. At defensive back, he intercepted a Jasen Pfuntner pass with about five minutes remaining in the game and returned it 30 yards for the final score.
Charles McClain rushed 19 times for 197 yards and a touchdown for the Cougars (3-3, 2-3). \

BUCHANAN - Jon Wheeler scored on a 5-yard run with eight minutes remaining to ice the Pioneer District game for the Fighting Blues (5-1, 1-0).
Wheeler finished with 115 yards on 14 carries.
Shaam Wheeler scored the game's first points near the end of the first half on a 21-yard reception from Brian Sizemore.
James River (1-5, 1-2) got inside Parry McCluer's 10-yard line twice but didn't score.

MARTINSVILLE - DeShannon Adams rambled for 116 yards and three touchdowns and the Lancers' defense held the winless Hawks to 50 yards total offense in the Piedmont District shutout.
Adams scored on runs of 2, 9 and 22 yards in the first half as Laurel Park (3-3, 2-3) bolted to a 22-0 halftime lead.
Solomon Paddyfote rushed for 77 yards on three carries for Laurel Park.
Gretna, which never came close to scoring, is 0-6 and 0-5. \

MOOREFIELD, WVa. - Senior running back Michael Edwards rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns as the Chargers remained undefeated by pounding winless Moorefield, WVa., in a non-district game.
Bath County (6-0) threw no passes and finished with 403 yards on the ground.
Moorefield (0-7) passed for 249 yards, but was held to 39 yards rushing.

CHILHOWIE - D.J. Preston rushed nine times for 91 yards and caught two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown as the Warriors blanked the Indians to remain undefeated in the Hogoheegee District.
Quarterback Jeff Robinson completed three of five passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns for Chilhowie (5-1, 4-0).
The Warriors held Rural Retreat (4-2, 2-2) to 72 yards rushing and 82 passing.

NARROWS - Senior tailback Whitey Blankenship carried 21 times for 201 yards and scored three touchdowns to pace the Green Wave (5-1, 2-1) to the Mountain Empire District whitewashing of the Bears (2-5, 0-5).
Blankenship scored on runs of 45, 23 and 4 yards for Narrows.
The Green Wave limited Bland County to 112 yards of total offense, most coming late in the game.
Narrows attempted one pass, a 64-yarder from Jeff White to Emory Turner for a touchdown in the second quarter. \
Spotswood 28
Rockbridge County 27
LEXINGTON - Rockbridge County blew a 20-point halftime lead as Spotswood's defense went from flimsy to firm and helped the Trailblazers win a non-district game.
Rockbridge County (4-3) gained 230 yards total offense in the first half but had 20 in the second and no first downs. Senior tailback Kenny Lewis, who scored four times and finished with 177 yards rushing on 14 carries, had only 16 yards in the second half.
Spotswood gained 116 yards in the first half and 189 in the second. A Rockbridge County fumble at its 5-yard line led to Noel Stobbs' 5-yard touchdown run that pulled Spotswood (2-4) to 27-14 with 6:16 left in the third quarter.
Durmount Perry scored from 18 yards out with 1:48 left in the third to make it 27-21, and Willie Lam's 1-yard run was the winner with 7:15 left in the fourth quarter.
Lewis scored on runs of 5, 83 and 50 yards and on a 34-yard pass from Greg Stubblefield. The point-after kick failed, resulting in Spotswood's winning margin.

BROOKVILLE - The Bees built a 14-point lead, then held on to beat the Minutemen in a key Seminole District game.
Brookville (5-1, 5-1) went up 14-0 as Shawn Stinnett scored on a 3-yard run, and quarterback Jeff Landrum ran 10 yards for a touchdown.
Liberty (5-2, 5-2) closed to 14-6 with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Mike Padgett to Gregg Reynolds in the second quarter, but the conversion kick missed.
The Bees kept the ball on the ground to control the clock and the game in the second half. Timmy Clark rushed for 115 of his 130 yards in the third and fourth quarters.
The Minutemen were held to 10 offensive plays during the half. \
