Pressley was going to leave the team at the end of the 1993 season, but he had planned to compete in the final four events of the season, including Sunday's 300-lap event at Martinsville Speedway.
Short-track standout Dennis Setzer of Newton, N.C., who already has been named by car owner Daniel Welch as the 1994 driver for the team, will take over the car for the rest of this season.
"It's just one of those things that happens," Pressley said. "They decided we were out of the running for the points championship, and that it would be in their best interests to start with Dennis and get ready for next year. I don't have any hard feelings. They've really been good to me."
Pressley will drive a car owned by NASCAR Winston Cup driver Rick Mast in the Martinsville event and for the rest of the year.
