PEERY-CARTER

Janet M. Carter and D. Porter Peery, Jr., were married October 16, 1993, at Virginia Heights Baptist Church by Dr. Daniel E. Scott. The reception was held at The Jefferson Club.

The maid of honor was Patricia C. Walker, sister. Bridesmaids were Patsy Murphy, Denise Updike, Mary Goodykoontz, Veronica Jasper and Debbie Lineberry, all friends. The best man was Paul Peery, brother. Ushers included Paul Shannon, David Grogan, Frank Swithers, David Hurt, Dale Webb, Berk Riley and Kelly Ward, all friends. Vaunda Leftwich was wedding coordinator/consultant, and Sylvia Dunkley-Hedge was wedding director.

The bride's gown was ivory satin with a stream of pearls across the front of the bodice, with a high illusion neckline with beautiful detailed appliques on bodice embellished with pearls. The gown had small pouf sleeves with decorated appliques down to the pointelle cuff, with a full cathedral length train accented with a full pouf bow of rosette center at back waist with cut out medallion appliques on the train. She carried a cascade of gardenias, white roses, stephanotis and maiden hair fern.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Nell S. Carter and the late Mr. Raymond A. Carter of Bedford, Virginia. The bride is employed as a paralegal in Roanoke.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don P. Peery of Roanoke, Va., is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond Law School. He is employed by State Farm.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after a wedding trip to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
