SHORT-BROWN

Nila Kaye Brown and David Ray Short were married Saturday, October 16, 1993, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Ward officiated the ceremony and was assisted by Rev. John Ratledge. The reception followed in the church atrium. The maid of honor was Marsha Brown, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Amy Knox, friend of the bride and groom. Bridesmaids were Rhonda Gray, Brenda Chewning, Melinda Prillaman, sisters of the bride, Kelli Short, sister of the groom, Teresa Brown, sister-in-law of the bride, Karrie Hayes, Lisa Midlam, and Julie Snow, friends of the bride and groom. The best man was Charles Short, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Monty Brown, brother of the bride, James Chewning, brother-in-law of the bride, James Day, Steve Dalton, Rusty Galbreath, David Harris, Mike Knox, Andy Meeks, and Mark Nichols, friends of the bride and groom. Flower girl was Heather Smith, cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Matthew Brown, nephew of the bride. Program attendant was Travis Brown, nephew of the bride. Guestbook attendant was Amy Shirley, friend of the bride and groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Dale Brown, of Wirtz, Virginia. She graduated from Franklin County High School and Virginia Tech and is employed by the Franklin County School system.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Short, of Grafton, Virginia, and grandson of Mrs. Lois Seals, of Cameron, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Tabb High School and Virginia Tech and is employed by the Roanoke Rescue Mission. Following their honeymoon to Cape Cod, the couple will reside in Roanoke.
