The American Chestnut Foundation will hold its annual meeting and festival Oct. 23-24 at the ACF Wagner Research Farm in Meadowview.
Registration will begin Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m., followed by the annual business meeting, a presentation on the history of chestnut research, a farm tour and a gala dinner.
On Oct. 24 at 8 a.m., guests will tour Jefferson National Forest to view wild populations of chestnut trees.

Membership meeting
The Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke will hold its annual membership meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the museum.
A fried-chicken dinner will be served at 6 and costs $8. The program, ``The Appalachian Railroad Heritage Partnership,'' will be presented at 6:45 by Thomas W. Dixon Jr., president of the Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society. The membership meeting follows at 7:15.

\ Piano concert
Pianist Robert Vienneau will give a concert Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Washington and Lee University Lenfest Center.
Vienneau graduated from W&L in 1987 and received his law degree from the school in 1990. He lives in Seattle, where he has been playing on the radi and in live concerts. He is also a member of the Bellvue Symphony.
Vienneau's program will include Mozart's Sonata in C, K. 330; Beethoven's Sonata in F minor, "Appasionata"; Chopin's Ballade No. 1 in G minor; Schumann's Arabesque, Op. 18; Ravel's "Ondine"; and Liszt's "Mephisto" Waltz No. 1.
