MAN CHARGED WITH SHOOTING AT OFFICER

Roanoke County police arrested a Roanoke man Sunday in connection with an incident Saturday in which shots were fired at a county police officer who was responding to a domestic-disturbance call.

David Tyler Bill, 24, whose street address was not available, was arrested at about 4 p.m. Sunday after an extensive search, Sgt. J.W. Custer said.

An officer was answering a call about 2 p.m. Saturday about a domestic dispute in the 6000 block of Circle Creek Drive in Southwest Roanoke County. A man involved in the dispute opened fire on the officer, then fled the scene. The officer was not hit.

County and Roanoke city law-enforcement agencies launched a manhunt, which was called off just before midnight Saturday and resumed Sunday.

Custer declined to say where Bill was apprehended.

Bill was charged with attempted capital murder, burglary with intent to commit murder and attempted murder. He is being held in the Roanoke County Jail.
