OBIT WATSON, HORACE ABRAHAM
WATSON, Horace Abraham, 82, of Moneta, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1993
in the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. He was born December 22, 1910 in Bedford
County, a son of the late John Daniel Watson and Mattie Anderson Watson. He
was retired teacher for 43 years in Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania County
School Systems. He was a member of the Morgans Baptist Church. He was preceded
in death by a sister, Eliza W. Dinwiddie and a brother, Gilbert O. Watson. He
is survived by his wife, Edith Saunders Watson; one son, John G. Watson, Glade
Hill; three daughters, Mattie W. Gulick, Casanova, LaWanna W. Holman,
Lynchburg and Elizabeth A. Watson, Roanoke; three brothers, J. Hanford Watson,
William D. Watson, both of Moneta, and R. Anderson Watson, Bedford; a sister,
Lelia W. Dudley, Moneta; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted Tuesday, October 19, 1993 at 2 p.m. at the Morgans Baptist Church by
the Rev. Tommy Speight and the Rev. Tommy Duncan. Interment will follow in the
church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at
Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and request that those wishing to make memorials
consider the Morgans Baptist Church.
