OBIT SEAWELL, WILLIAM HUNTER, PH.D.
SEAWELL, William Hunter, Ph.D., 73, of Charlottesville, died Saturday,
October 16, 1993 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born in Cape
Charles, Va. on May 13, 1920, he was a son of the late Watt W. and Sarah Smith
Seawell. Dr. Seawell was a retired professor from the University of Virginia
School of Education and a member of Abingdon Episcopal Church in Gloucester,
Va. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Craddock Seawell; one son, William H.
Seawell, Jr. of Vinton; one daughter, Nancy Jean Sanders of Virginia Beach;
two sisters, Fannie S. Bullard of Chesapeake and Octavia S. Walstrom of Los
Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Watt W. Seawell, Jr. of Ohio and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas M. Seawell. The
family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at their residence. At
Bill's request, there will be no formal funeral service. His body will be
cremated and his cremains scattered at his favorite fishing spot on the
Chesapeake Bay. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society,
175 South Pantops Drive, Charlottesville, Va., 22901 or to one's favorite
charity.
