DAVIS, Mary Jane Johnston, 57, of Salem, died Monday, October 18, 1993, at
Lewis Gale Hospital. She drove a bus for the City of Salem and Roanoke County
School Systems for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryce
T. Davis; son, Jerry W. Davis. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law,
Janet L. and Robert Stallard, Elliston; son, Richard T. Davis, Vinton;
daughter-in-law, Mary Frances Davis, Hollins; five precious grandchildren,
Wendy, Cindy, and Tommy Davis, Hunter and Jennifer Stallard; brothers, Kenneth
W. Johnston, McCoy, G. Houston Johnston, Blacksburg, Caudill (Cooper)
Johnston, Port Lucie, Fla.; sisters, Lois Morehead, Eunice Agnew, Thelma
Lafon, all of Blacksburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lovell
Davis; sisters-in-law, Patty and Ora Lane Davis, all of Blacksburg;
brothers-in-law, Rev. Jimmy Davis, Christiansburg, Nelson Davis, Lynchburg;
numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday,
October 21, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with Rev.
Michael L. Slaughter and Rev. Jimmy Davis officiating. Interment will follow
in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the family members and
friends for their devotion shown. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society, Salem Rescue Squad or Ft. Lewis Rescue Squad.
