OBIT DILLON, RUTH ERA
DILLON, Ruth Era, 81, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, October 19, 1993. She was
born on January 3, 1912, daughter of Thaddius Miller and Mary Mullen Dillon.
She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church since her
childhood. She was a member of the Roanoke Chapter of the D.A.R. and the
Williamson Road Women's Club. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Paul R.
("Helen") Russell, Winter Park, Fla., Mrs. M. C. ("Evelyn") Townsend, Roanoke;
several nieces and nephews, including Mary, Helen and Michael Townsend,
Roanoke, Douglas Townsend, Chesapeake, Thaddeus Russell, Maplewood, N.J.,
Chandler Townsend, Yellville, Ark., Col. David Townsend, Beauford, S.C.,
Richard Townsend, Waldoboro, Maine, Ruth Townsend, Lincolnville, Maine; also
19 grandnieces and grandnephews. Graveside services will be held in Fair View
Cemetery Thursday, October 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Louis Timmons
officiating. The family wishes to thank Dr. William Ward and his colleagues
and their staff for their professional and loving care. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests memorials to Highland Park United Methodist Church in her
memory. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
at Oakey's North Chapel.
