OBIT BRENNAN, GERALD FRANCIS SR.
BRENNAN, Gerald Francis Sr., 69, of Riner, died at his home early
Wednesday, October 20, 1993. A native of Bath, N.Y., he was a graduate of
Syracuse University and received his Masters Degree from Geneseo Teachers
College, S.U.N.Y. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War 11 as a
munitions specialist. His career included teaching in New York and Guam; a
principalship in Newfoundland; president, Exchange Milling Co., Riner;
Director of Training, American Motel Management, Inc., Roanoke; office
managerships for Polytron, Christiansburg and Krasnow and Associates in
Roanoke; farmer; and developer of the Riner post office, bank and food center.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Altizer Brennan of Riner; daughter,
Shannon W. Brennan, and granddaughter Jessie Sheffield of Lynchburg, Va.; son,
Gerald Francis Brennan Jr., and his wife Brenda and granddaughter, Kelsey;
son, Kelly S. Brennan, Riner, Va. and son, Brien B. Brennan, Seattle. The
family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 until 8, at the
Richardson-Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. The body has been cremated
and a family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Riner Volunteer Fire
Department, Riner, Va. 24149.
