OBIT MARSHALL, MCNEIL
MARSHALL, McNeil, 85, of Charlottesville, died Monday, October 18, 1993, in
a local hospital. He was born near Advance Mills, son of the late Mac and Mary
Marshall. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bowlin Marshall. Mr.
Marshall was a graduate of Earlysville High School and in 1934 from the Corps
of Cadets at VPI and State University. He worked for the Soil Conservation in
Virginia and was the assistant County Agent of Albemarle County. He served
during World War II as a Military Policeman stationed in Mississippi.
Following the war he was a Professor of Agricultural Engineering Research at
VPI for 25 years. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively
throughout the United States and in 1988 returned to Charlottesville to live.
He was an active member of the Senior Center here in Charlottesville.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Marshall; his daughter, Mary Jane Hicks of
Blacksburg; his son, William McNeil Marshall of Pennsylvania; six
grandchildren; two nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday
in the Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Monticello
Memory Gardens. The family requests memorial donations be made to
