COVINGTON - JoAnn Helton scored 24 points, and the Cougars used a box-and-one defense to frustrate the Rockets' Chrissy Robertson in a Pioneer District victory.
Charlee Laws dug in and held Robertson to nine points, well below her average, as Covington (6-9, 6-3) took control early. Bessy Laws added 14 points and Nancy Shawver scored 13 for the Cougars.

COLLINSVILLE - T.J. Hayes led five players in double figures with 13 points as the Cavaliers swamped Tunstall in a Piedmont District game.
Yvonne Hall added 12 points, Monique Riley had 11, and Kia Isaac and Cicely Becker 10 each for Fieldale-Collinsville (8-8, 7-7). The Cavaliers led 39-11 at halftime.

BUENA VISTA - Stephanie Rhodes made two free throws with 19 seconds left as the Fighting Blues avoided an upset in the Pioneer District.
Rhodes had 14 points for Parry McCluer (9-6, 6-3), as did Misty Snider.
Highland (3-11, 1-8) got 11 points from Amy Arbaugh. The Rams outscored Parry McCluer 11-4 in the fourth quarter to move into position for the victory.

MONETA - The Golden Eagles (13-2, 13-2) surged to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised past the winless Knights in a Seminole District game. Deena Mitchell had a game-high 11 points and Courtney Hurd added 10 for Staunton River, which led 31-10 at halftime. No Buckingham player scored more than eight points. \
