Beville, who served on the board of directors, died in 1990. The check for the scholarship was presented to New River Community College President Ed Barnes at the October Rotary meeting.
Beville was a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools in Campbell, Halifax, Nottoway, Prince Edward, Prince William and Montgomery counties and Danville. He also was a faculty member at Virginia Tech.
Also, the Rotary Club is looking for a non-Rotarian in the Montgomery County area who best exemplifies Rotary's International Four-Way test, which is celebrated every October. Nominations must be received by Oct. 31. Nominees need not be public figures, as this award is a vocational service award.
When choosing a nominee, consider the four questions of Rotary's International Four-Way Test, of the things "we think, say or do":
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build good will and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
