So, Blacksburg police say, they concocted a scheme to make off with more than minimum wage.
Last Sunday, an employee of the McDonald's on Turner Street told police he was robbed by a gunman who fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Friday, Blacksburg police flipped the story and now it's the employees who are sizzling. Police say three McDonald's workers teamed up with two non-employees to stage the robbery and cover a theft of money from the safe.
Arrested were Allen Wayne Odum, 22, of Christiansburg; Lewis Harlow Freeman, 21, of Blacksburg; and Monique Renee Collins, 21, also of Blacksburg. All three worked at the restaurant.
Also arrested was Timmie Ray Shaw, 18, of Radford.
The four have been charged with grand larceny, police said. Charges are pending against a 16-year-old.
