FERRUM FINISHES WITH WIN

Ferrum completed its men's soccer season with a 4-0 victory over visiting Bluefield College on Friday.

The Panthers (5-12-1) used three goals in a span of 2 minutes, 55 seconds in the first half to take control. Todd Reighley and Will Cunningham had goals in their final game for Ferrum, and former William Byrd High School standout Kevin Niday had a goal and an assist.

Michael Carey also had a goal for Ferrum, and Steve Reynolds and senior Jay Roberts combined for the shutout.

Bluefield's record slipped to 3-14-1.

In other soccer:

In Lexington, Steve Stahischmidt scored with 33 minutes remaining to give Appalachian State a 3-2 victory over VMI in a Southern Conference men's soccer game.

VMI (3-12-1) held leads of 1-0 and 2-1. Appalachian State is 7-7.

In Ashland, Julie McCrary scored four goals as Randolph-Macon wrapped up the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular-season title with an 8-0 rout of Washington and Lee in women's action. The Generals are 8-5-1 overall, 6-1-1 in the ODAC and will be seeded second in the conference tournament.

In Radford, Sue Williams scored three goals as Radford whipped Wingate 10-0 in a women's game. Missy Gaitka added two goals for the Highlanders (14-1-2). Wingate is 3-12-1.
