OBIT NORMAN, JOHN DAVID
NORMAN, John David, 87, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 22, 1993 in a
Roanoke hospital. He was founder of John Norman,Inc., past president of the
Little Theater League, an Elder in First Presbyterian Church, past president
of the Roanoke Merchants Association, and past president of the Roanoke
Kiwanis Club. He was a past board member of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce,
the Shenandoah Club, and the Roanoke Country Club. Surviving are his wife,
Caroline Moore Norman, Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Caroline
Corpening and Glenn Corpening, High Point, N.C., Suzanne Avis and Lynn Avis,
Roanoke; a sister, Evelyn Beaver, Granite Quarry, N.C.; five grandchildren,
John T. (Jack) Avis, L. Scott Avis, Anne Terrell Avis, Jane Corpening and Clay
Ijams. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, 3
p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Robert Smith and Dr. William R. Klein. Burial will
be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials
be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Downtown Kiwanis Club, the City
Rescue Mission, or a charity of your choice. Friends may call at Oakey's
Roanoke Chapel or homes of the family.
