OBIT TYREE, GEORGE WILLIAM

TYREE, George William, 88, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 23, 1993. He was the son of the late Billy Smith and Virginia Law Tyree of Franklin County. Mr. Tyree was preceded in death by his wife, Burchie K. Tyree and a son, Walter W. Tyree. He was a member of the Waverly Place Baptist Church and was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railway and Heironimus. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bill S. and Sheila C. Tyree of Roanoke; two daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Tyree Caldwell of Roanoke and Betty T. and John W. Tayloe Jr. of Newport News; a daughter-in-law, Violet T. Tyree of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret L. Ramsey, Helen T. Gentry and Blanche T. Featherston, all of Richmond; numerous nieces and nephews; a special caregiver and family friend, Ann Keffer. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 2:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Charles S. Hoffler officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
