Best-selling author Steven Coonts will speak at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge on Monday oct25 at 7 p.m. The lecture will be in room 356 of Scott Hall.

Coonts is the author of ``Flight of the Intruder,'' which has been made into a motion picture. His latest book is ``Red Horseman.''

Halloween at Barter

ABINGDON - Barter Theatre is haunting its own Playhouse Thursday through Saturday nights now through Halloween.

Tours of Barter's ``Haunted Playhouse'' will be held every 30 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m. The hours will be extended on Halloween weekend, Oct. 30-31, from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.

``The Barter Playhouse will come alive, literally, when the imagined sinister history of the Playhouse is acted out,'' said John Hardy, who wrote the script.

Groups of 20 will be taken on tour every half hour. Make reservations by calling 1-800-368-3240. The cost is $3.50 per person.
