OBIT COX, BASIL BERNARD

COX, Basil Bernard, 76, of 5139 F Overland Drive, SW, Roanoke, and formerly of Pulaski, died Monday morning, October 25, 1993, in the VA Medical Center, Salem after a prolonged illness. Born June 30, 1917 in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Riley Osborne Cox and Minnie E. Hollandsworth Cox. He was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church, Newbern, Treasurer for 28 years, a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Air Corps and Army, and a retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Treva P. Cox of Roanoke; one son, Basil T. Cox of Roanoke; a granddaughter, Heather R. Cox; a grandson, Michael T. Cox, both of Roanoke; four sisters, Sylvia Trail of Hiwassee, Mildred Hall of Hiwassee, Loretta Hedge of Beckley, W.Va. and Edith O'Dell of Fairfax; one brother, Quinton Cox of Hiwassee; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Ann Blair and the Rev. Raymond ("Dan") O'Dell officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Boulevard, Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
