UNICEF TRICK-OR-TREATERS OUT SUNDAY NIGHT

Youngsters sporting the distinctive range UNICEF collection boxes will "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" on Sunday, Halloween Night, in Blacksburg and Montgomery County. Church Women United in Blacksburg - with help from the Junior Woman's Club - will coordinate the annual event to benefit the United Nations Children's Fund.

Collection boxes will be distributed through elementary schools in Blacksburg, at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church preschool and at St. Mary's Little Angels.

UNICEF is the world's largest development organization working for the well-being of children around the world. "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" got its start in 1950 in Philadelphia, when a youth group concerned over the plight of the world's less-fortunate children took up door-to-door collections in empty milk cartons.

Over the years, the annual Halloween effort has raised $100 million to improve the quality of life for youngsters in developing countries.
