PULASKI COUNCIL PLANS GOAL-SETTING SESSION SATURDAY

Pulaski Town Council and staff members will hold a half-day planning session Saturday in the Pulaski Community Hospital Education Building.

Council scheduled the gathering at its meeting Tuesday night. It will run from 7:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m.

Mayor Gary Hancock said participants will go over goals and objectives set several years ago at a similar planning session, updating them and perhaps adding new ideas.

In other action Tuesday, council voted to seek refinancing of its 1987\ general obligation bonds because interest rates are much lower now.

The first step in this procedure is to apply to the State Council on Local Debt for the issuing and sale of refunding bonds. Once that authorization is obtained, council can move on the refinancing.

``We're hopefully going to be able to save a rather substantial amount of money,'' Hancock said. A financial adviser hired by the town projects savings of 6.99 percent.

Council also voted to move on a new water line into the Peakland subdivision, annexed by the town in 1988.

All but one of the residents has water service, but Utilities Committee Chairman Andy Graham said the service is not adequate.

Graham and Councilman Don Crispin were concerned over possible health problems at the residence still unserved, depending on a cistern.

Council appropriated $7,000 from the Water Fund to cover the cost of the line, with the work to the done by the town's Public Works Department.
