OBIT-ANDERSON, GERALD EDWARD

ANDERSON, Gerald Edward, 79, of Blacksburg, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 1993, in Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. Mr. Anderson graduated from Virginia Tech in 1935, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and returned for a Master's in Mechanical Engineering before going on to Cincinnati, Ohio to his career of 40 years with Procter and Gamble. He retired as head of the Heat and Power department, worldwide. He moved to Blacksburg in 1978, where he was a member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees and the Board of the Wesley Foundation. He was also an active member of the Blacksburg Lions Club, the Sports Club, the V.P.I. Old Guard and New Dimensions. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Rowan Anderson. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Kindt Anderson; daughter, Gail Schnecker, Blacksburg; sons, William V. Anderson, Marblehead, Mass., Charles Kindt, Spokane, Wash., Duff Kindt, Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Gail Rohlfer Kindt and Penny DeLisle Kindt; son-in-law, Dr. Dennis Schnecker; grandchildren, Tim and Katie Schnecker, Blacksburg, Becky and Seth Kindt, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was much beloved by family and friends. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 29, 1993, at Blacksburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 931, Blacksburg, VA 24063. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
