Howard T. Henegar agreed to the terms under a settlement reached Friday in Roanoke Circuit Court.
Through an annuity that Henegar purchased, Zachary Noah Briggs will receive $9,760 on Oct. 2, 2005.
Another $1,893 will go to Richard Lawrence, a Roanoke attorney who filed the lawsuit.
Henegar was accused of failing to muzzle or confine a Samoyed that attacked Briggs in September 1990 outside a Campbell Avenue home.
According to the lawsuit, the dog attacked a 4-year-old girl the following year.
A second lawsuit on behalf of Candice Steele of Roanoke still is pending.
The dog has been destroyed.
The lawsuits alleged that, based on other incidents, Henegar knew the dog was dangerous long before Briggs was attacked.
Henegar denied liability for Brigg's injuries, but "has agreed to compromise and settle the matters in controversy," according to an agreement approved by Judge Diane Strickland.
