GANDHI'S GRANDSON WILL OPEN SPEAKING TOUR IN TAZEWELL

Arun Gandhi, grandson of Hindu nationalist and social reformer Mahatma Gandhi, will visit Southwest Virginia on a speaking tour in November.

The grandson, who is founder and director of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for the Study of Nonviolence, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Tazewell County Public Library at a covered-dish gathering. Reservations can be made by calling 988-3639.

He will speak at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 9 at Southwest Virginia Community College near Richlands in the Russell Hall auditorium.

Author of numerous articles and books, Arun Gandhi is now working on a study on racism, in America and as it relates to apartheid in South Africa and the caste system in India. His institute is devoted to the study of all forms of non-violent philosophy.
