OBIT MONTGOMERY, JOSEPH DAVID
MONTGOMERY, Joseph David, 70, of Route 3, Moneta, the Scruggs Community,
died Sunday, October 31, 1993, in a Roanoke hospital. He was a Deacon and
member of the Mt. Ivy Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents,
John and Cora Kingery Montgomery; his sisters, Annie Bowman and Bertha
Montgomery; his brothers, Roy Montgomery and Clyde Montgomery; his stepmother,
Maggie Peters Montgomery. Surviving are his wife, Janie Maxey Montgomery; a
daughter, Linda Montgomery of Moneta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Barry
and Elaine Montgomery and Alvin Montgomery, all of Moneta; two grandchildren,
David and Laura Montgomery; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Denton
Peters of Rocky Mount, Esther and Virgil Jamison of Salem, Lois and Joseph
Denlinger of Elida, Ohio and Rachel and Lewis Beckner of Wirtz; two brothers
and four sisters-in-law, Cabel and Emma Montgomery of Brookville, Ohio, Daniel
and Annie Montgomery of Wirtz, Louise Klopfenstein of Lima, Ohio and Velma
Montgomery of Wirtz; his mother-in-law, Teetie Maxey of Roanoke; one
sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annie and Arthur St. Clair of Roanoke; three
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, J.W. and Edith Maxey, Davis and Doris
Maxey of Roanoke and Perry and Edith Maxey of Goodview; a number of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11
a.m. Tuesday from Lynch Chapel with the Rev. A. A. Blanks officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Friends may call at
Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, after 3 p.m. Monday, where the family will be
from 7 to 9 p.m.
