RSVP SEEKS MORE SENIOR VOLUNTEERS

In response to changes in society, RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, has changed its name to the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. The group also has invited everyone 55 and older to lend a hand in local and regional volunteer programs.

A first step for people new to the program might be attending the RSVP covered dish luncheon in Christiansburg at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 W. Main St., on Tuesday at noon. For more information, call 382-5775.

The CHRISTIANSBURG SENIOR CENTER, 655 Montgomery St., 382-8173, will take a group to Playmakers and Company's production of "Mousetrap" Admission is $3; transportation is $2. Departure will be at 4:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory.

Make a runner for your Thanksgiving dinner table on Monday, 10:30 a.m. at the center. Supplies are $3.

The mystery movie is on Tuesday at 10 a.m. There will be a free blood-sugar screening between 10:30 a.m. and noon Tuesday at the center.

The GILES COUNTY SENIOR CENTER, 1320 Wenonah Ave., Pearisburg, 921-3924, sponsors a Neutrition Program Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for seniors in rural areas. Transportation to the center is provided from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Seniors may play cards, do puzzles or just relax and visit with others. A hot lunch is provided; the charge is according to income.

Chapter 445 of the American Association of Retired Persons will meet Friday at 12:30 p.m.

Ceramics is Monday, 9:15 a.m.-noon, and all day Tuesday.

Bridge players can play Monday and Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The RADFORD SENIOR CENTER, 27 First St., 731-3634, will sponsor a trip to Mercer Mall in West Virginia Friday. Transportation will leave at 9:15 a.m. from the center. There's a $2 transportation fee, lunch on your own at K & W Cafeteria and free time at the outlet stores.

Ceramics and quilting are at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the center. Creative writing is at 10 a.m. Wednesdays.

A trip to Valley View Mall in Roanoke is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.

The PULASKI SENIOR CENTER, 106 N. Washington Ave., 980-3969, plans an evening trip for dinner and theatre Nov. 11. The group will leave the center at 4:30 p.m. for dinner at The Farmhouse Restaurant and theatre at The Playmakers and Company in Blacksburg, now presenting "Mousetrap."

On Nov. 19, a trip to the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte will begin with an 8 a.m. departure and breakfast at Shoney's in Elkin. Following the show, the group will stop for dinner in Statesville and return to Pulaski about 8 p.m.

Cards are played Fridays, 1-4 p.m. An RSVP Advisory Council meeting will be Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The round-table discussion and luncheon Wednesday will feature podiatrist Dr. Ted Johnson, who will talk about ills that affect feet.
