BYRD BURIES ROCKBRIDGE

William Byrd breezed to an early lead and coasted to a 61-29 victory over Rockbridge County on Tuesday night in Blue Ridge District girls' basketball.

Cathy Smith scored a game-high 13 points and Nicole Sarver had 12 for the Terriers (14-5 overall, 7-2 Blue Ridge).

Rockbridge County (5-13, 0-8) was paced by Randi Sorrells' eight points.

MARTINSVILLE - Aimee Barker scored 25 points and Kim Hairston added 23 as the Bengals rolled past the Warriors in a Piedmont District contest to stay undefeated.

Bassett (19-0, 17-0) also got 12 points from Lori Wimbush.

Tenesia Kellum and Kathleen Speakman scored 10 points each to lead Magna Vista (13-7, 10-7). \
