\ TWO-TRADITION MARRIAGES, those in which a Roman Catholic marries a person of another religious background, will be the theme of a gathering Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 314 Turner Road, Salem.
\ The Rev. James Parke, pastor, said the meeting will explore ways couples with different religious backgrounds can strengthen their marriages yet remain faithful to their own tradition. He said clergy of several other groups have been invited to the meeting. Call 387-0491 for more information.
\ A FINANCIAL CAMPAIGN to raise $500,000 to upgrade facilities and build new ones at Camp Alta Mons has resulted in nearly $377,500 in pledges. The pledges are to be paid during the next five years. Alta Mons is a United Methodist conference center near Shawsville used by other groups and denominations throughout the year. A new swimming pool will be among the major additions. Gifts and pledges are still being received.
\ STAMPED NEW CHRISTMAS CARDS for prisoners in the Roanoke and Roanoke County jails to send to friends and family are being collected by\ the Rev. Richard Harris, institutional chaplain. The cards are distributed early in December. Call Harris at 981-2621 for more information.
\ SASHA AKSYUTINA, a Russian student attending Hollins College, will speak Friday night at the 8:15 service at Temple Emanuel, 1163 Persinger Road S.W. Her theme will be the condition of Russian Jews in the new political regime.
Many American Jews, according to Rabbi Frank Muller, are concerned because some opponents of the present leader Boris Yeltsin also are strongly anti-Semitic.
