SOCIAL SERVICES GIVING FUEL ASSISTANCE GRANTS

Applications for Virginia's 1993-94 Fuel Assistance Program will be accepted by Roanoke and the Salem and Roanoke County departments of social services through Nov. 12.

Qualified low-income families may receive help in paying their winter heating costs from this program funded by U.S. Congressional action. The grant also provides assistance to families in danger of losing their heating source.

Households that apply for fuel assistance will receive eligibility notices in December, and payments will also begin in December. Volunteer tutors for adult education sought
