`TIRED OF RUNNING,' MAN ADMITS ROBBERY

A man walked into the Roanoke Police Department on Thursday night, said he was "tired of running" and confessed to a 2-month-old robbery.

He told police he had robbed a convenience store "some time ago" - hitting the clerk in the head with a wine bottle before carrying away a cash register, police said Friday.

Police determined that he was referring to the Sept. 3 robbery of the Handi Food Mart on 13th Street Southwest.

At the time, police found the cash register - minus the cash - behind the store. No suspect had been located until he walked into the Police Department.

Police charged Nicholas Miller, 23, of Queen Anne Drive Southeast with robbery.
