NAMES & CHANGES

Carilion appoints administrator WILLIAM MAHONE has been appointed administrator and president of Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington, effective Dec. 1.

The hospital is managed by Carilion Health System of Roanoke. As hospital administrator, Mahone will be employed by Carilion.

Mahone, a Roanoke native, has been the administrator of Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg for 4 1/2 years. Before that he was assistant vice president for Carilion Health System working with its affiliated hospitals as a management consultant. Before that, he was assistant vice president of Alamance Health Services in Burlington, N.C. He has an undergraduate degree in biology from Elon College and a master's degree in health administration from Duke University in Durham, N.C.

ENGINEERING

ANDY DIERAUF has joined Environmental Options Inc. in Rocky Mount as an environmental geologist. He received a bachelor of science degree from James Madison University and worked for five years as an environmental consultant at Engineering Consulting Services Ltd. in Richmond. He will be responsible for site assessments, site characterizations, ground-water monitoring programs and contaminant investigations.

FINANCIAL

CHARLES CARTER BULLINGTON has been named vice president of Peakwood Capital Corp. He has been with Peakwood Capital since June 1992 and is involved in business development, analysis and internal operations. Before joining Peakwood Capital, Bullington worked for Dominion Bank in Roanoke as an analyst in the corporate banking division.

HEALTH CARE

Lewis-Gale Psychiatric Center has appointed CAROL CHAPPELL as director of business development. Chappel, a Roanoke native, has an extensive background in marketing and business administration and will be responsible for public relations and business development at the facility.

Also at Lewis-Gale Psychiatric Center, DEBRA A. DRAPER has been appointed assistant administrator. Draper, who is a certified public accountant, has worked as controller, chief operating officer and executive director for several hospitals and health care facilities before coming to the psychiatric center.

\ GEOFFREY W. WHITTAKER has been named development director of Virginia Lutheran Homes Inc., which owns and operates housing and nursing facilities in Roanoke, Laurel Forks, New Market and Virginia Beach. Whittaker, a Roanoke native, has worked for 22 years in development with nonprofit organizations. He has worked for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, was campaign director for the United Way of Roanoke Valley, and has been a consultant. His consulting firm was employed to direct the capital campaign to build Brandon Oaks, a retirement community which is a property of Virginia Lutheran Homes Inc.

\ THE REV. CHARLES W. EASLEY has been named chaplain for Brandon Oaks. The native of Georgetown, S.C., was pastor of Roanoke's St. Mark's Lutheran Church for seven years. He has also been the pastor of churches in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He was chairman of the Lutheran Synod finance and budget committee and was a member of the boards of Newberry College, Virginia Lutheran Homes Inc. and Brandon Oaks. He attended Newberry College and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and was ordained in 1956.

\ ROBYN MABE has been employed by Virginia Lutheran Homes as assistant to the chief financial officer. Mabe, a certified public accountant, is a Roanoke native with seven years of public accounting experience and two years of private accounting experience as a controller. She is a 1984 graduate of Longwood College.

MANUFACTURING

JAMES C. KOSTELNI of Lexington has been elected vice chairman of the board of Georgia Bonded Fibers Inc. in Buena Vista. He has been president of the corporation since 1965.

Also, elected to the board of directors is FRANK B. MAYORSHI of Roanoke, who was a managing partner of KPMG Peat Marwick's Roanoke office upon his retirement in 1991.

Also elected to the board is LARRY E. MORRIS of Buena Vista. He is the technical and sales director at Georgia Bonded Fibers and has been with the company for 11 years in various positions.

GBF/Bontex is a global supplier of nonwoven materials to the footwear, luggage, leathergoods, headwear, and automotive industries.

NONPROFITS

Three area American Red Cross volunteers have received appointments to state-level planning committees for the organization. SUSIE FEINOUR of Roanoke has been appointed to the human resources committee; KAKI CORMANY of Boones Mill has been appointed to the disaster services committee; and CAROL SANDIDGE of Ferrum has been selected interim field service chairman.

\ JOHN W. MOTICHA JR. of Salem has been elected chairman of the state board of directors for the Easter Seal Society of Virginia Inc. Moticha, a graduate of Roanoke College, is vice president of operations for the Orvis Co. He has been a member of the Easter Seal board of directors since 1990.

Also re-elected for three-year terms to the board of directors are JOHN M. HUDGINS JR. of Salem and DAVID LEE of Roanoke.

The Easter Seal Society provides services for children and adults with disabilities and is based in Roanoke, where it was founded in 1944.

WHOLESALE

VIRGIL D. BRUINEKOOL has been named manager of Noland Co.'s drilling equipment branches based in Roanoke. Additionally, he will oversee Noland's small satellite drilling equipment operation in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Bruinekool has been in the water well drilling industry for more than 20 years. He was most recently a regional sales and service manager for Canterra Drill Systems.
