The bride is the daughter of Lorraine Smyth-Karl, of Roanoke, and the lateDavid Wayne Smyth. She is the stepdaughter of James Robert Karl. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Douglas Church, of Baldwinsville, N.Y.
The bride was escorted by James Robert Karl and wore a wedding gown worn by her mother and made by her late grandmother, Mable Tews Simon.
Emily Clark Dupree, of Free Union, Va., was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Michelle Smyth Cordle, of San Antonio, Tex., sister of the bride; Carmen Andrea Smyth, of Richmond, sister of the bride; Sarah Elizabeth Clarke, of Roanoke; and Karen Edwards Cox, of Charlottesville.
Kent Christopher New, of Washington, D.C., was the best man. Groomsmen were John Willman Bartlett, of Nantucket, Mass., brother-in-law of the groom; Eric Rasmussen, of Baldwinsville, brother-in-law of the groom; Richard Harold Coots, of Baldwinsville; and JeffreyRonald Davis, of Arlington, Va.
Rebecca Church Bartlett, of Nantucket, and Sarah Rasmussen, of Baldwinsville, sisters of the groom, were the scripture readers. Katherine Rose Willard was the guest book attendant.
The bride is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the University of Virginia and is employed with Evans Design in Bethesda, Md., as a graphic designer. The groom is a graduate of C.W. Baker High School and the University of Virginia and is employed with Aurora Flight Sciences in Manassas, Va., as an aerospace engineer.
After a wedding trip to Nevis, the couple will live in Falls Church, Va.
