MAGNA VISTA STAYS UNBEATEN

Evan Penn gained 88 yards on 15 carries and ran for two touchdowns as Magna Vista pounded Dan River 37-12 to stay undefeated in a Piedmont District high school football game Saturday night.

Magna Vista (9-0 overall, 8-0 Piedmont) clinched the victory in the third quarter, when the Warriors scored three times on only one offensive play. After Penn scored his second touchdown, Philip Walker ran 10 yards for a score that cut Magna Vista's lead to six. The Warriors' Jermaine Simmons returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a score. Denard Taylor blocked a punt on Dan River's next series and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown. When Magna Vista got the ball again, Rodney Redd tossed a 77-yard scoring pass to Marcus Toney.

Erick Farmer rushed 13 times for 102 yards and quarterback Erick Ferguson gained 86 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown as the Wildcats (4-5, 3-5) amassed 341 yards of total offense. - Staff report
