OBIT-WALKER, ONYX ROBBLEY
WALKER, Onyx Robbley, 73, of Rt. 5, Moneta, died Monday, November 8, 1993,
in Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center. Born November 17, 1920 in Chase
City, Va., he was the son of the late Herbert Walker and Leafy Watson Walker.
He was an Episcopalian, veteran of World War II, First Division, 16th
Infantry, taking part in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily and Normandy.
He was a retired miner, tree farmer and builder. Survivors include his wife,
Virginia Birchfield Walker of Moneta; one daughter, Elaine Evans of Laguna
Hills, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Walker of Lakeland, Fla. and Joe Walker of
Powellton, W.Va.; one sister, Frances Thacker of Lakeland, Fla. Funeral
services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Colbert-Moran Chapel.
Interment will follow in New Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The
family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colbert-Moran
Funeral Home, Gretna.
