\ LAKESIDE BAPTIST CHURCH, 447 Dalewood Ave., Salem, has scheduled a three-night presentation by David Benoit, founder of Glory Ministries and a frequent guest on TV and radio talk shows.

Benoit will discuss rock music, astrology, reincarnation, witchcraft and satanic rituals which he regards as serious dangers to Christian living Saturday through Monday. The Saturday and Monday meetings will begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday's times are 9:45 and 11 a.m., and 6 p.m.

\ GLAD TIDINGS ASSEMBLY OF GOD at Hollins will be host to about 500 teens from throughout Virginia Nov. 26 and 27 for "spiritual impact rallies." The rallies, for youth of any faith, start on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. continue on Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. Call 563-5151 for more information.

\ SYSTEMATIC SPIRITUAL HEALING will be the theme of the Rev. Maurice Williams of Kansas City, Mo. during at a workshop Nov. 21 at Unity of Roanoke Valley, 3300 Green Ridge Road N.W.

Williams, an ordained Unity minister who teaches at the denominational Williams school of religious studies, has survived 11 years of severe kidney damage that threatened his life several times.

His talk from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. will focus on five steps he has found helpful in living with chronic illness.

He also will preach at the 9 and 11 a.m. services on the same day. His topic will be "The Healing of the Paralyzed Heart."

\ THE ROANOKE VALLEY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN BAPTISTS has started a ministry to the deaf. More than 20 people have participated in social events and an educational program on Sunday mornings in the ministry that is based at Haran Baptist Church, 7539 Old Bent Mountain Road S.W. \ THE APPALACHIA CHRISTMAS TRAIN, a project of several congregations in the Virlina District of the Church of the Brethren, will provide practical gifts for people in several poor communities in rural Kentucky. Items being collected include clothing, household articles, toys and specific furniture and appliances. Donations are needed before Dec. 4. Call 890-4261 or 427-9738 for more information.

\ THE REV. ALTON WASHINGTON, pastor, will lead a Wednesday night Bible study at Huntington Court United Methodist Church through Dec. 15 in preparation for Christmas. The class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. will follow an optional dinner beginning at 5:45. Call 366-3465 by noon Mondays for reservations. Dinner costs $3.50 for adults. The class, held at the church on Williamson Road at Huntington Boulevard, is open to the community.

\ A MORAVIAN LOVE FEAST SERVICE, featuring the Chancel Choir and the Brass Five Ensemble is scheduled Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3911 Greenland Ave. N.W. The service will begin the pre-Christmas period of Advent includes candlelight as well as festive music.

\ GREENE MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 402 Second St. in downtown Roanoke, is collecting hats and gloves for needy men, women and children. The gifts will be dedicated on Nov. 21 and then distributed through the Samaritan Inn, a family ministry operated by Jerry Clevenger on Salem Avenue Southwest.

\ A NEW DRIVEWAY to provide easier access for small children and the elderly to downtown Roanoke's First Baptist Church has been completed. The childrens' entrance is on Luck Avenue Southwest while a Third Street entrance offers easier access to the sanctuary.

\ ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Elm and South Jefferson in downtown Roanoke, has added 38 parking spaces from the clearing of a tract it purchased on the south of the church and garden area. Additional spaces eventually be be available on the upper level of the lot.

\ GRACE COVENANT CHURCH, 1857 Grandin Road S.W., has begun a praise singing service open to those of any denomination. The service, directed by Cloyd and Mary Brown, is held on the second Friday night of each month at 7:30. About 25 attend the programs one of which will be Friday Most of the singers are not members of the sponsoring church, according to supporter Jane Rose.

\ THE REV. FREEMAN J. HAMRICK has left Grandview Heights Church of the Nazarene after a 14-year pastorate. Hamrick, 68, has moved to Grottoes where he said he expects to do supply ministry in the Harrisonburg area and assist with the program of a congregation in nearby Dayton.

\ BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH in Salem has chosen M.J. "Jef" Tobias as its new minister of youth and education. The 30-year-old recent graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., will begin his work Sunday. He succeeds Stephen Byers who went to a North Carolina church several months ago.
